A BRIEF HISTORY

The concept of Al Bidayah began because breastfeeding in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is desperately in need of protection and support. The statistics are very low and as nationals, we are faced with health and social side effects of a bottle-feeding culture. Consequently, the A M Batterjee Group has opened a new and unique Non – Profit Breastfeeding Resource and Women's Health Awareness Center (Al Bidayah, which means the beginning) as a service to the community

Al Bidayah offers:

Health and wellness services which are women-centered non-judgmental and fully confidential
Advocacy and research on issues of concern to women's health
Health education to community
Resources and information
Training and experience for volunteers
As a sales center, we offer Medela Breastfeeding Support equipment, books in Arabic and English, Vagisil feminine hygiene products and La Leche League products, books and information. (The entire La Leche League catalogue including books, CDs, posters, pamphlets and products can be made available upon request.)
As a rental center, Medela hospital grade pumps and BiliBeds units (phototherapy units) are made available to those in need.

It should be noted that the above is only a brief start of the vision and we are not to be limited by these functions.
Our goal is to increase the breastfeeding rates to a high enough measure to allow our society to reap
the benefits of a Breastfeeding Culture.
